January  20 Invitational Novice Tournament - The Lake Melville Xtreme Minor Hockey Association will celebrate Minor Hockey Week with this invitational tournament at the E.J. Broomfield Memorial Arena.
February 1 - 3 5th Annual Mega Tournament at the E.J. Broomfield Memorial Arena
February 6 Green Thumb Theatre with the Invisible Girl This is a performance for children. Green Thumb Theatre Presents The Invisible Girl at Peacock Primary on Wednesday, Feb 6 @ 7pm. Tickets $5 at the door

March 8 Big Land Challenge Dog Team Race
March 8th, 2008 will be the date for this exciting race that kicks off Snobreak 2008. For more information, check out their webpage at http://www.biglandchallenge.com/
March 8-16 SnoBreak 2008 A week of continuous winter activities including snowmobile races, trail rides to several surrounding communities, family games, relay races and much more! This winter festival is held each year in March in the Upper Lake Melville area of Labrador, with most activities happening in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
March 8 - 16 Cain's Quest Endurance Race An incredible journey through the Labrador wilderness.  The race will entail an approximate 2000 km trek on ungroomed trails where two riders and their snow machines race to the finish. Check out their web page at  http://www.cainsquest.com

March 15 That Canadian Guy - Glen Foster- The Masonic Lodge is the venue for this comedy performance with Glen Foster and special guests: The Nefarious Black Roses and Peter White. The Nefarious Black Roses  Tickets available at Hamilton Drugs, Warr's Pharmacy or at the door. Cost $20 adults, $15 seniors and students. Only 100 tickets available.
April 5 and 6 Snowflake Skating Club Ice Show at the E.J. Broomfield Memorial Arena

Show times are: Saturday, April 5 at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m.

July 26 - 27 22nd Annual North West River Beach Festival Labrador's largest outdoor music festival featuring over twenty hours of non-stop entertainment by local and regional performers. The event will again take place at the beautiful River Front Park with a scenic view of Lake Melville and the Mealy Mountains. Large display and sale of Labrador crafts. Take the family for a picnic, a swim and enjoy the beautiful sandy North West River beach. More info at http://www.townofnwr.ca
August 2 - 4 25th Annual Canoe  Regatta The first weekend in August, after the Beach Festival there is another annual event since 1983: the Labrador Canoe Regatta. This 3 day event at Gosling Park features teams from all over Labrador competing in 6 man freighter canoe races, to see who is fastest on the lake. Held 15km outside of North West River on Gosling Lake at Gosling Park, teams of 6 persons paddle replicas of traditional voyager canoes around a diamond shaped course on the lake. There are races in several age categories for both men and women. The excitement on the water is matched by the fun on shore with various events, food booths and live bands providing entertainment.
August 16 Goosestock Music Festival - Fun filled family event that involves local and provincial talent taking place at Kinsmen Park. In the event of rain the event will be held at the E.J. August 23 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

·   Location is the parking lot of the E.J. Broomfield Memorial Arena. The Town Council of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay in partnership with the Multi Material Stewardship Board will be holding a household hazardous waste collection day. 

·    Household Hazardous Wastes Accepted, include housekeeping cleaners; paint and related products; home maintenance and repair products; pest control products; household batteries; and aerosols

Feb 28 - March 1 Provincial Senior Men's and Ladies Broomball Championships - Senior Broomball players from Newfoundland and Labrador will converge on Happy Valley-Goose Bay for three days of competitive broomball action.
Feb 27 - March 6, 2009 SnoBreak - A week of continuous winter activities including snowmobile races, trail rides and family events. Call 896 3489 for more information. SnoBreak is an annual project of the Labrador Lake Melville Tourism Association. Snobreak was awarded 5 STARS by the Canadian Tourism Commission.
