Happy Valley - Goose Bay is the air transportation hub for Labrador. As home to one of the largest airports in Eastern Canada, Happy Valley - Goose Bay hosts a number of air carriers who operate regularly scheduled flights to and from the island of Newfoundland, the provinces of Nova Scotia, Quebec and all other Labrador communities. There are also a number of charter services that use Happy Valley-Goose Bay as a base to access the numerous outfitter camps in Labrador.

The Trans-Labrador Highway presently accesses the Town of Happy Valley - Goose Bay from western Labrador. The Highway is a high quality all-seasons gravel road. In the next ten years the road will be extended to allow access to the coastal communities along the south eastern coast of Labrador and down to the island of Newfoundland. In an agreement between the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Federal Government, 500 million dollars will be spent on upgrading and expanding the road system. The road system offers a truly unique opportunity to see and experience this part of the world.

The Trans Labrador Highway between Happy Valley - Goose Bay and western Labrador has seen a significant improvement over the last four years. The improvements have resulted in a much improved road surface, significantly reduced travel times and, overall, a much better travel experience.

For travelers along the road there are full service stops in Labrador City. In Churchill Falls there are limited services. There may not be 24 hour services available in these communities.

Once in Happy Valley - Goose Bay complete and full services to meet any travelers needs can be found. The distances between services and the wilderness setting means that travelers should plan accordingly. The distance between Labrador City and Churchill Falls is approximately 238 kilometres. And 288 kilometres between Churchill Falls and Happy Valley - Goose Bay. The communities along the coast of Labrador, including Happy Valley - Goose Bay are serviced by a regularly scheduled marine ferry and coastal supply boats. This is a seasonal service and generally runs from June to November. Travelers can go South from Happy Valley - Goose Bay to Cartwright on the coast, and will soon be able to drive to the Labrador Straits where another ferry travels to Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula. Another ferry travels round trip from Goose Bay to the communities on the North coast. These trips will expose the traveler to some of the most wonderful seascapes and landscapes imaginable. Labrador's winter offers the snowmobile enthusiast one of the greatest possible experiences. For people that live in this northern environment, snowmobiles are like cars in the south. As a result, there is an increasing number of high quality groomed trails in Labrador. In the Upper Lake Melville region (of which Happy Valley - Goose Bay sits in the middle), groomed trails will shortly be linking up the coastal areas and Labrador west. Once completed, there will be hundreds of kilometres of trails linking up the Labrador communities and linking Labrador to the Province of Quebec's trail system. Travel from central Canada to Happy Valley - Goose Bay and beyond by snowmobile will be a reality as these trails are developed.
